Al-Kaida hat ein $100’000-Kopfgeld auf Lars Vilks angesetzt, mit einem Zusatz
von $50’00, wenn ihm die Kehle durchgeschnitten wird, nachdem der exzentrische
Künstler und Bidlhauer eine Karikatur zeichnete, welche den Propheten Mohammed
als Hund zeigt. Diese Karikatur ist Teil einer satirischen Zeichnungreihe zu
allen religiösen Führern. Die kruden, gekritzelten Karikaturen zeigen den Kopf
des Prophete Mohammed auf dem Körper eines Hundes. Hunde gelten, den
Vorstellungen konservativer Muslime zufolge, als unrein. Zudem ist jegliche
Darstellung des Propheten strikt verboten. Vilks, der in Schweden seit mehr als
drei Jahrzehnten ein höchst umstrittener Künstler ist, erläutert, dass seine
Zeichnung ein kalkulierter Schachzug war, der Reaktionen auslösen sollte. “Das
ist ein Weg die Dinge auszudrücken. Wenn es dir nicht gefällt, schau es nicht
an. Und wenn du es anschaust, nimm es nicht zu ernst. Kein Schaden entsteht,
wirklich”, so Vilks. Vilks Zeichnung, welche im August 2007 durch die
schwedische Zeitung Nerikes Allehanda verbreitet wurde, hat nicht das gleiche
Ausmaß an globalen Protesten erreicht wie 2005 die Zeichnungen eines dänischen
Künstlers. Schwedische Muslime verlangten von der Zeitung eine Entschuldigung,
welche sich aber auf Vilks Seite und die Berufung auf die freie Meinungsäußerung
stellte. Pakistan und Iran starteten formale Proteste gegen Schweden. Die
schwedische Polizei, welche die Interviewanfrage von CNN abschlug, rieten Vilks,
sein Haus zu verlassen. Der Künstler arbeitet am Tag bis heute dort. Lars Vilks
wird an der öffentlichen Diskussion am 6.9. teilnehmen. Ob er seine Zeichnungen
mitnehmen kann und will, bleibt abzuwarten.
